The American Heart Association Heartsaver First course is for the average person to learn first aid and is valid for 2 years after date of completion.
AHA Heartsaver First Aid teaches the duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies
- First aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, calling for help and more)
- Medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, shock and more)
- Injury emergencies (including actions for bleeding, broken bones, burns and more)
- Environmental emergencies (including actions for bites and stings, and temperature-related and poison emergencies)
This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet a job, regulatory or other requirement and is seeking an alternative to classroom-based training.

- First Aid instruction includes bandaging, bleeding, wounds, choking, shock, seizure, fainting, broken bones, sprains, burns, bites, stings, poison, and temperature-related conditions.
- There is no written test, however there is an optional written test if required by an employer.
Yes, upon successful completion of the course students will receive an AHA Heartsaver First Aid course completion eCard. Each eCard is valid for two years.
