American Safety and Health Institute Wilderness First Aid Course

Wilderness First Aid Student Book

The American Safety and Health Institute Wilderness First Aid Course is for any person looking to learn first aid for various outdoor situations. Certification is valid for 2 years from course completion date.

Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With an ASHI Wilderness First Aid class, first aid providers in a remote outdoor setting will be better prepared to respond when faced with limited resources, longer times to care for someone, and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate an ill or injured person. This comprehensive 16-hour wilderness first aid course meets or exceeds the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines, 2017 Edition.

Course covers the following topics: Preparation and Assessment, Preventing and Caring for Injuries, Environmental Hazards, Other Wilderness Considerations and Medical Emergencies.

ASHI Wilderness First Aid is meant for anyone who wants to learn wilderness and remote first aid from a basic understanding of emergency response in an outdoor setting to specific techniques and considerations for a wide range of injuries and illnesses.

Certification in adult CPR and AED is required. Prior completion of a basic first aid class is strongly encouraged.

Upon successful completion of the course, an ASHI Wilderness First Aid certification card will be issued. The card will contain an access code for a digital book and app on your mobile devices.
